- A website. I recommend building a WordPress site. If you’re not a techie, that’s okay. It’s not as hard as you may think. First, you’ll need two things: hosting and a domain. I recommend the hosting company that I use. I also recommend that you use your own name and .com for your domain. It establishes your branding and builds your credibility as you fill your website with quality content.
- An email list. Like a website, this is an essential part of an online business. As I’ve said over and over again, your greatest return on investment will come from your email list. The reason for this is that your email list enables you to establish a relationship with your prospects. As your list grows, your sales and profits should grow along with it. For greatest efficiency, you’ll need an autoresponder. An autoresponder is an automated way to send emails. The autoresponder that I use is Aweber, which I recommend.
- Marketing. You can do the greatest SEO in the world, and link building, but if you want to make money, you’re going to have to market your products and services. Your marketing can include your website, social media, and paid advertising. Whatever your marketing mix is, always be fine tuning it to get maximum results. This website has a boatload of training and tools to help you with this essential part of your online business.
- Your offer. What is it that you have to sell? Is it a product or a service? Are you selling someone else’s product or service as an affiliate marketer? How will you present your offer for maximum sales? The last question gets back to your marketing.
These are the four pillars of an online business. Put these in place and you are on your way to living the laptop lifestyle!
